Ohio Hair, Booth-Rental and Salon Verification May Require Three Searches
“Hair license” and “stylist license” are informal phrases. The public result should show the legal credential category that matches the services and business arrangement.

Independent contractor
A booth renter or self-employed provider may need an independent-contractor license in addition to the underlying practice license. The current issuance fee is $75 and renewal fee is $70.
Licensed location

Chapter 4713 cosmetology and branch licenses use a two-year period beginning February 1 of an odd-numbered year and ending January 31 of the next odd-numbered year.

Initial-license period
Ordinary CE is waived until the renewal period beginning after initial licensure. Required human-trafficking training is not waived by this rule.
Age 65 exemption
For the present cycle, the licensee generally needed to be age 65 before the cycle began on February 1, 2025.
Thirty-year exemption
The person generally needed to have held a Board license for at least 30 years before February 1, 2025.
Waiver or extension
The Board may grant relief for an emergency, unusual or prolonged illness, or qualifying active-duty military service when satisfactory proof is provided.
