What Happens After Five Years Without Renewal?
California Business and Professions Code section 7418 provides that a license not renewed within five years after expiration is canceled and cannot simply be renewed, restored, reinstated or reissued through the ordinary renewal process.

California provides a limited renewal-fee exemption for qualifying licensees called to active duty as members of the United States Armed Forces or California National Guard.
